July 2017
July has been exceptionally busy as clients prepare for summer events and for summer holidays! At FFA we are preparing too, with personal challenges ahead and new training sessions on the horizon (more to come later).
I wanted to take the opportunity again to thanks those of you who supported me through sponsorship during the OCR European Championships. I have written a blog describing my experiences which you can read in the link provided in this newsletter. Having an event, goal or target is great motivation on those days (and I'm sure there will be many in the next month) where training can get moved down the agenda.
I am really looking forward to the upcoming qualifying events for the OCR World Championships for my age group, and preparing will definitely be a personal focus over the next month.
New Saturday sessions: H20 - How to Obstacle Run
With our improving running performance sessions moving from Ruislip to the private facilities at Merchant Taylors' School in Northwood in September, we will be combining the twice monthly sessions with a beginners guide to obstacle courses using the 6 obstacles available on site.
How to Obstacle-run (H2O) is mainly aimed at beginner to intermediate level. It is for people who would like to gain more confidence, knowledge and generally become fitter and better at doing obstacle course running.
Fit For Anything will provide all the T's:Tips -Tricks - Technical advice - Time efficiency - Tailored to you - Training!
You can expect an approach suited to your individual needs, requirements and ability. I will be passing on my own advanced obstacle course race experience and provide relevant training, knowledge and guidance.
Information and questions are answered such as:
How do you best prepare your body physically and also mentally for an event?
What are your individual shortcomings and how, what and/or when do you train to overcome them?
General technical advice on how to conquer obstacles whilst using minimal energy.
Nutritional advice.
Which O.C.R. event is best suited to you and what time of year?
What to wear: Neoprene material or not? Shoes with great grip or not? Gloves or not? Hat?
As well as the obstacles there is a superb running track where we will also work on drills, core strength and conditioning and posture and running techniques.
Sessions will take place every other Saturday starting on Saturday 16th September from 8-9 am. Spaces are limited so please contact me if you are interested in the sessions.
You can also join the Facebook Group to keep updated on sessions and for regular top tips, articles and videos. https://www.facebook.com/groups/172819993235539/

On the 30th July, FFA clients Sudheer Gupta and his son Vivek, will be taking on the 100 mile Ride London in support of the NSPCC.
This is a challenging hilly course which they completed a couple of years ago - but knowing the challenge ahead this is giving great purpose to the training. You can sponsor them on their just giving page https://lnkd.in/d2BP4hW

If the OCR events are calling you, then one of the best is the London Rat Race taking place on 12/08.
